Welcome Back

Wow – it has been way too long since I’ve written. A lot has happened, and there have been so many [[wonderful]] changes in my life. First, and probably the biggest reason for my lack of writing, was that I got a new job. Landing and accepting a new job, meant saying goodbye to my old one, and although I had a two week period in between jobs, I tried to stay off computers as much as possible. Second, I started yoga teacher training. I’m only two weeks in, and it’s already going really really well.

With both of those new things going on in my life, I’ve done a lot of thinking about who I am, who I want to be, my mission, purpose, values, etc.

I’m looking to rebrand and refocus, but tbd on that.

For now, I’m looking to get back into writing and keeping up with this blog, so with that being said, I have a couple of goals for myself:

>>Write on weekly shopping deals for my stylish ladies
>>Write at least one DIY or recipe post each week
>>Write at least one post about life each week, whatever that may look like (work advice, leadership tips, yoga tidbits, cool spots around Atlanta, how to treat yoself, etc)

A few more fun things I have going on right now: I have successfully grown jalepenos and green peppers via JP the jalapeno plant and BP the bell pepper plant on my front porch, I downloaded Audible for my new unfortunate commute home from work and am currently listening to Boss Bitch, and I just got a Furbo (an awesome dog cam – yes I am a crazy dog mom – that lets you talk to your dog and throw treats via your iPhone) so I get to feel like I’m hanging out with Brooklynn all day.

More coming soon ❤

& just like that, I’m back!

Wow, it’s been awhile. I work for a Big 4 accounting firm, which to most people doesn’t mean anything, but essentially I have a “busy season” where I work crazy hours at work and don’t have much free time for anything. My busy season this year went from February through May, and by the end of it, I didn’t have a second of me time, I never saw my boyfriend, I hadn’t worked out in weeks, and I just didn’t know who I was anymore. I desperately needed a break – or a vacation. Which is the opposite of the essence of my blog, so I couldn’t bring myself to write/I honestly didn’t have time.

So after some much needed R&R (Miami –> LA and weddings and food/wine festivals) and a new project where I leave work at 5:30 every day, I finally feel like myself again. I’m back, and I have a lot that I want to write about — new door decor, my finished office space, new mini garden, summer salad series, Rocks Box review, Lipsense, new workout clothes, etc. Thanks for sticking around during my silent period, but I’m excited for some fun. In the meantime, check out my travel blog for my recent post on my trip to Asheville.

Latest Obsession: Elephant Pants

I recently came across Elephant Pants (literally while scrolling through Instagram, and I am obsessed. Not only are these pants lightweight, super comfortable, totally cute cool and fun, but they also go towards saving elephants. Their story and their mission is amazing, and since they started in 2014, The Elephant Pants has donated over $127K to a variety of organizations that are dedicated to saving elephants. Did you know that elephants are pregnant for nearly two years? Talk about girl power. Click here and get 10% off your first order!

Wellness: RX Bar

I woke up this morning to “Blessed” by Martina McBride – an oldie but goodie – and it was a nice reminder to be thankful. The sun is shining; it’s Friday; life is good. Sorry for the cheese, let’s move on to the good stuff.

I showed up to work and there are some free RX Bars to try. Right now, there’s a promo going on to get a sample box of 12 bars for $20. I like these because they are protein bars (perfect after early morning workouts) and they’re made with only a few ingredients. They are healthy and delicious, and unlike a lot of protein bars nowadays, these are actually filling. And they are great for taking artsy pics.

Wellness: the Tea Parlor

I’ve had a crazy last two weeks with work – I worked until around 1 am every night, including a Friday night! So finally, when my project wrapped up at 5 pm I was definitely ready to celebrate. There was the Atlanta Brunch Festival on Saturday morning and then the Lee Fields show at Terminal West, so a super lazy Sunday was absolutely necessary.

Tea Room

My friend was in town from Chicago so we decided to try out the new tea room a few blocks down the street from me. There’s a random winter cold front hitting the country, right when we thought spring was coming, so it was the perfect day for the tea room. We both decided to do a tea flight, which was $6 for three tea tastings. We tried an assortment of wellness teas: relaxation, calming, detox, weight loss, stress relief, overall wellness. My personal favorite was the Poet’s Wellness tea. It contains camomile, lavender, calendula petals, Rooibos, almond pieces, and has hints of vanilla – we each ended up buying a bag of this. Tea has so many benefits and I’m excited about coming here more often.

Additionally, it was a nice change of pace and a chic unique thing to do. They also serve high tea for $25, so that is next on my list! If you live in Atlanta, you should definitely try out the Tipple + Rose Tea Parlor and Apothecary.

What’s your favorite tea?

Rise up Falcons – Super Bowl Sunday

Today is a day Atlanta has been waiting for for so many years. Today is Atlanta’s time to shine. I have always enjoyed Super Bowl parties – great food, Sunday fun-day with friends, amazing commercials and halftime shows… but this year is way more exciting than any other year because this year the Falcons are playing! I am so pumped — so I’m reposting one of my go to appetizers for anyone who has some last minute cooking to do. This app is seriously so easy and quick to make, plus it is extra delicious. Enjoy & RISE UP!

This is my boyfriend and my go-to app to bring to parties. It’s super easy to make and it’s loaded with flavor. We randomly came up with this recipe after trying Terrapin Ridge‘s hot pepper bacon  jam. And then of course, anything involving pimento cheese is a winning recipe to me.

Spread the bacon chili pepper jam on top of the crackers. Then layer on the pimento cheese. Finally, put a small piece of bacon on top. Enjoy! Trust me, it will be amazing.
